Terms of Service
Version 0.1. Last updated: 4 November 2026.
These terms, together with the Acceptable Use and Data Sources Notice in Schedule 1 below, form the contract between you and us for UK Company Check. They apply whenever you use the Service, with or without an API key, through the website, the REST API, the MCP server or the command-line client.
1. Who we are
UK Company Check (the "Service") is provided by AIBI LTD, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 16142632, registered office 80 Osborne Road, London, England, W3 8SR ("we", "us", "our"). Contact: hello@aibisolutions.co.uk. We are not affiliated with, or endorsed by, Companies House.
2. Business customers only
The Service is for businesses, professional advisers and developers acting in the course of their trade, business or profession. By using it you confirm that you are not acting as a consumer and that you are authorised to accept these terms for your organisation ("you"). If you are not acting for a business, please do not buy credits. Section 9 explains what applies if a consumer buys despite this.
3. What the Service does
You give us UK company numbers or names. We read the Companies House public register through the official Companies House public data API and return a screening verdict (NO_RED_FLAGS, REVIEW or HIGH_RISK), a 0 to 100 score and the reasons for it, each with its evidence and a link to the register. A standard check covers matters such as company status, insolvency, strike-off and gazette notices, overdue and late accounts and confirmation statements, identity verification of directors and people with significant control (PSCs), officer changes, charges and registered office flags. A full check adds a search of the disqualified directors register, directors' other companies in insolvency or dissolved, and the corporate ownership chain. The Service also offers company search, officer lists, identity verification gap reports, batch checks of up to 500 companies and monitoring with webhook alerts. We do not file anything at Companies House, verify anyone's identity, or contact the companies or people you check.
Checks cover the records selected within the limits shown with the result. A full check includes additional screening, but is not an exhaustive review of every director, appointment or ownership link. Where a limit is reached or information cannot be matched, the remaining records are unknown, not cleared.
4. Where the data comes from
All register information in the Service comes from the Companies House public register, read through the Companies House public data API. It contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Verdicts, scores, reasons and summaries are our own automated analysis of that data. Schedule 1 explains our data sources and the limits on reuse in more detail.
5. Screening indicators only: not advice, not a credit rating
Results are generated automatically from the register information retrieved for the check. Some information may come from a short-lived cache; the result shows the available source dates and relevant coverage limits. The register can be incomplete, wrong or slow to update. Verdicts and scores are screening indicators to help you decide what to look at more closely. They are not legal advice, not financial, accounting or credit advice, and not a credit rating, credit score or credit reference, and we are not a credit reference agency. A NO_RED_FLAGS verdict does not mean a company is safe to deal with. The disqualified director screen matches names and month and year of birth published on the register, so it can produce false matches or miss a match; check the linked records before relying on one. You remain responsible for your own decisions, including whether to onboard, supply, lend to or contract with any company, and for checking important points against the register or with your own adviser.
6. Prices and payment
The Service works on prepaid credits. Prices and credit costs are pending approval and paid credits are not yet on sale. Current prices:
- Credit packs: 1,000 credits [price pending approval]; 5,500 credits [price pending approval]; 25,000 credits [price pending approval].
- Credits used per call: standard check 5; full check 20; each company in a batch 4; identity verification gaps 2; company search 1; officer list 1; monitoring 10 per company per 30 days.
- Free allowance: 25 free credits a day without a key, and 100 free credits when you create a key with a work email.
The price shown when you pay is the price that applies, and the credit cost of each call is shown in the API (/api/packs) and the documentation. AIBI LTD is not registered for VAT, so no VAT is charged. Payment is taken in pounds sterling by our payment provider, Revolut, through a Revolut hosted checkout. We never see or store your full card details. Credits are added to your key once the payment provider confirms the payment.
If you use the Service through a third-party marketplace, such as the Apify Store, that marketplace sets and collects the price and its own terms apply to your purchase, as well as these terms to your use of the Service.
7. Credits and refunds
- Using credits. Credits are deducted when a call is made. If you do not have enough credits, the call is refused.
- Automatic returns. Credits are returned to your balance automatically if a company number is not found, the input is invalid, or the Companies House register cannot be read at the time of the call. If a required source within the check's selected scope cannot be read or validated, the check is incomplete and its credits are returned. A completed check with a disclosed coverage limit remains chargeable. A successful company search with no matches remains chargeable.
- Expiry. Unused credits expire after 24 calendar months of account inactivity. Activity means deliberately opening your account, starting a credit-using request that we accept for processing, successfully managing your monitoring, or starting a purchase request that we accept. A request accepted for processing counts as activity even if it later fails and its credits are returned. Automatic monitoring, page refreshes, balance or payment-status polling, and the later processing of payments or refunds do not count. Expiry is applied before new activity, so later activity does not restore expired credits. Credit expiry does not close your account. Credits from a payment or refund received after your previous credits expired are preserved for your next deliberate account access or accepted use. Their 24-month inactivity period starts when you next access or use the account in that way. They do not restore credits that have already expired. Free credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred, and we may change or withdraw the free allowance at any time.
- Refunds. We will refund a credit pack in full if you ask within 14 days of purchase and have not used any of the credits from it. We will also refund a duplicate payment, or a payment for credits we did not supply because of a fault on our side. If we stop providing the Service, we will refund unused purchased credits pro rata. Otherwise, purchased credits are not refundable for cash, except where the law requires. Refunds are made to the original payment method.
8. Monitoring and webhooks
- Monitoring a company uses 10 credits for each 30 day period, deducted when you start and at each renewal. If your balance is too low at renewal, monitoring of that company pauses and does not restart automatically when you top up. To restart it, add the company to monitoring again; this starts a new 30-day period at the stated credit cost and issues a new webhook signing secret.
- We re-check monitored companies about every 6 hours, so a change on the register may take some time to be detected, and the register itself may be updated late.
- If you give us a webhook URL, it must be a public HTTPS endpoint that you control. We sign each delivery so that you can verify it came from us; you should verify the signature and keep your endpoint and signing secret secure. Deliveries are made on a best-efforts basis and change events are also available through the API, so do not rely on webhook delivery alone for a deadline.
9. If you are a consumer
The Service is offered to business customers only. If you nevertheless buy as a consumer, your statutory rights, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, are not affected. Nothing in section 16 limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited for consumers. Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you normally have 14 days after entering the contract to cancel. To cancel, contact hello@aibisolutions.co.uk with your payment reference. The refund provisions in section 7 also apply.
10. API keys, AI agents and integrations
- Your key. Your browser saves the key for later visits only if you choose to remember it. Keep your API key secure and share it only with people and systems in your organisation. You are responsible for all use made with your key, including by scripts, AI agents and integrations you connect. Tell us straight away at hello@aibisolutions.co.uk if you think it has been lost or misused. We may revoke or replace a key that we reasonably believe has been compromised or misused.
- Keys in URLs. Send API keys in request headers, not in connection URLs. We reject URL credentials, but a URL may already have been recorded by your AI tool, browser, network or our hosting provider before that rejection. Treat your key like a password.
- Third-party AI tools. If you use the Service through an AI assistant or tool (for example Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or similar), that provider is chosen by you, receives the results you ask for, and its own terms apply. We are not responsible for how an AI model interprets, summarises or presents our results. Make sure anyone relying on them can see the reasons and evidence we provide.
11. Your data and our processing terms
Our Privacy Notice explains how we handle personal data.
- When we hold the inputs you give us on your behalf (such as batch lists, monitoring lists and webhook settings) and the check and batch results and change events we store for you, we act as your processor and you are the controller, and the processing terms below apply.
- When we read public register data to produce results, and when we hold your account and payment records, we act as a controller in our own right.
- Results can contain personal data published on the register, such as names, roles and month and year of birth of directors and PSCs. Once you receive results, you are responsible as an independent controller for your own use of that personal data, including having a lawful basis and telling people where required.
Processing terms: we process your data only to provide the Service and on your documented instructions, which are these terms and your use of the Service, unless the law requires otherwise (in which case we will tell you unless the law prevents it); we keep it confidential and ensure that anyone we authorise to process it is under a duty of confidentiality; we use appropriate technical and organisational security measures; we use sub-processors only as listed in the Privacy Notice, on written terms that give equivalent protection, and we will tell you before adding or replacing one so that you can object, and we remain responsible for them; we will help you, as reasonably required, to respond to data subject requests and to meet your security, breach notification and impact assessment duties, and we will tell you without undue delay after becoming aware of a personal data breach affecting your data; we only transfer your data outside the UK with a transfer safeguard recognised under UK data protection law; we delete stored batch results and change events after the periods in the Privacy Notice, monitoring settings when you remove them, and at the end of the Service we delete or return your data at your choice unless the law requires us to keep it; and we will provide the information reasonably needed to show compliance with these terms and allow reasonable audits on reasonable notice, at your cost.
When you use an API key, we keep completed check results so that you can retrieve them if the original response is lost. Results are available for 30 days after completion. Keep your own copy of anything you need. Retrieving an existing result does not run a new check; submitting the check again is a new request and may use credits. Results from requests made without a key are not saved for later retrieval.
12. Acceptable use
You must follow the Acceptable Use and Data Sources Notice in Schedule 1. It forms part of these terms.
Use full-depth disqualification screening only where it is necessary to identify possible current directors acting while disqualified or associated corporate fraud or false authority in B2B counterparty due diligence. Confirm possible matches and the relevant dates on the register; a match does not establish an offence. You must establish the lawful basis and any criminal-offence-data condition for your own use of results. The Service is not a general background-checking service for individuals.
13. Intellectual property and use of results
We own the Service, its software, API design, scoring methods and our own analysis text. You may use results within your organisation, include them in your own internal systems and workflows, and share individual results with your clients, counterparties and advisers in connection with a matter you are working on. You may not resell, sublicense or redistribute results in bulk, as a data product or feed, or use them to build or train a competing dataset or service. Register data itself remains available under the Open Government Licence v3.0, subject to the limits on personal data explained in Schedule 1.
14. Availability, rate limits and changes to the Service
We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. Response times depend on Companies House rate limits and availability, and we may queue, slow or limit requests to share capacity fairly. We may change, improve or withdraw features and API fields. We will try to give reasonable notice of changes that break existing integrations. If a change materially reduces what you have paid for, you may ask for a pro rata refund of affected unused credits.
15. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or revoke a key if you breach these terms, if we reasonably suspect fraud or misuse, or if we are required to by law. If we close your key without cause, we will refund unused purchased credits pro rata. You may stop using the Service at any time and ask us to delete your key and account data by emailing hello@aibisolutions.co.uk. Sections 5, 13, 16 and 18 to 19 continue after the contract ends.
16. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. Subject to that:
- we are not liable for loss of profit, revenue, business, contracts, goodwill or anticipated savings, for bad debts or credit losses, for loss or corruption of data, or for any indirect or consequential loss;
- we are not liable for errors, omissions or delays in the public register, for false or missed matches in automated screening, or for any decision you, or any system or AI agent acting for you, make on the basis of a result;
- our total liability arising out of or in connection with the Service in any 12 month period, whether in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise, is limited to the amount you paid us in that period; and
- the Service is provided on an "as is" basis and, to the extent the law allows, we exclude all implied terms and warranties, including as to the completeness, accuracy or timeliness of public register data and fitness for a particular purpose.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms by posting a new version on this page with a new date. The version in force when you buy credits applies to that purchase, and continued use after a change means you accept the new version. If a change materially affects credits you have already paid for, we will tell you by email where we have your address.
18. General
These terms are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service and replace any earlier arrangement on the same subject. Each of us confirms that it has not relied on any statement not set out in these terms. We are not liable for delay or failure caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including outages of the Companies House API. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent; we may transfer ours to a successor business that continues the Service. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in force. No one other than you and us has any right to enforce these terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999. Notices may be given by email: to us at hello@aibisolutions.co.uk and to you at the email address linked to your key.
Complaints. If you are unhappy with the Service, please email us first at hello@aibisolutions.co.uk so we can try to put things right. Complaints about how we use personal data are handled as set out in the Complaints section of our Privacy Notice, which also explains your right to complain to the Information Commission (still known as the ICO).
19. Law and jurisdiction
These terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
Schedule 1: Acceptable Use and Data Sources Notice
A. Data sources
- Companies House public register only. The Service reads the Companies House public data API: company profiles, officers and their appointments, people with significant control, filing history, charges, insolvency cases and the disqualified directors register. We do not use paid data, credit bureau data, scraped websites or any other source, and we do not add information about people from elsewhere.
- Personal data in results. Results can include what the register publishes about directors, LLP members and PSCs, such as names, roles, appointment dates, month and year of birth, nationality, country of residence, occupation, identity verification status and other appointments, and the details of any matching disqualification record. We do not include full dates of birth or home addresses.
- Attribution. Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Companies House does not endorse the Service or our analysis. Verdicts, scores, reasons and summaries are our analysis and not Companies House data. If you republish register data you obtain through the Service, you must include the same attribution.
- Personal data is not covered by the Open Government Licence. Anyone reusing personal data from the register, including you and us, must do so in line with UK data protection law.
- Accuracy. The register contains information filed by others. Companies House does not check all of it and it may be incomplete, wrong or out of date. Results show the register as it stood at the time of the check, or of our short-lived cache of it.
B. Acceptable use
You must use the Service and its results lawfully, including under UK data protection, consumer credit, sanctions and anti-money laundering law, and only for legitimate business purposes such as customer and supplier onboarding, due diligence, credit control, compliance checks and research about companies. You must not:
- use the Service or results to identify, locate, track, profile, harass or contact individuals, or for any purpose unrelated to dealing with the company concerned;
- use results as the only basis for a decision with legal or similarly significant effects on an individual, including decisions about an individual's credit, employment, tenancy or insurance;
- use or present results as a credit rating, credit reference or credit score, or supply them to others for consumer credit or credit reference purposes;
- treat results as sanctions screening, identity verification or anti-money laundering due diligence on their own;
- resell, sublicense or redistribute results in bulk, as a data product, feed or database, or use them to build or train a competing dataset or service;
- send us anything other than company numbers or names, the references you need to identify your own records and webhook settings, and in particular no special category or criminal offence data;
- attempt to access another customer's key or data, probe or bypass security, rate limits or free allowances (including by rotating IP addresses or creating keys to collect free credits), overload the Service, or scrape, copy or reverse engineer it;
- point webhooks at systems you do not control or use them to attack or overload any system;
- share your key outside your organisation or resell access to the Service, except where we have agreed in writing; or
- present results as coming from Companies House, or as legal advice or a credit rating.
We may suspend access, without refund of credits used in breach, if we reasonably believe these rules have been broken. To report misuse or an inaccurate result, email hello@aibisolutions.co.uk.
